Looking for a Winter Skincare Routine? Try This

Your skincare routine should always consist of a gentle cleanser, moisturizer, serum, and treatment if you require it (i.e. acne, wrinkles, dullness, etc.). Having said that, your routine should also be modified to fit the season. In particular, developing a winter skincare routine is key for having hydrated, glowing skin throughout the cold, dry months.

If you don’t have a winter skincare routine, or you’re looking for some tips on how you can adapt your skincare routine to fit the season, read on.

  • Switch to a cream cleanser

  • One of the worst things you can do for your skin in the winter is to strip it of its natural oils. Harsh cleansers leave skin dry, irritated, and unable to cope with the cold climate of the winter months.

Instead, opt for gentle cleansers that ideally come in a cream texture. Those bubbly cleansers that you love so much often dry the skin out, which we want to avoid in the winter.

OurEUROPA Brightening Face Wash is an amazing option if you’re on the hunt for a gentle cleanser

  • GENTLE exfoliation is key

  • The key word here is gentle exfoliation.

Because winter can leave your skin drier and more prone to irritation, you might be scared to use an exfoliator on your skin; however, if you opt for a gentle exfoliator and apply it with a light touch, exfoliation can make all the difference in your winter skin.

Exfoliation is especially important because dead skin cells are more prone to accumulation during the winter. If you’re not exfoliating the dead skin cells away, they will build up and can contribute to acne and dullness.

OurDIAMANT Diamond-Infused Brightening Scrub is one of our favorites for a gentle exfoliant.

  • Hyaluronic Acid Serum
  • Here at Jolicoeur we love serums.

Not only do they deliver skin-loving ingredients deep to the pores for that enviable glow, but they’re also ridiculously hydrating.

In particular, because the winter can be so drying, we want to recommend a serum with hyaluronic acid.

Hyaluronic acid is naturally produced by the body to keep skin moisturized and healthy; however, as we age, our body starts producing less hyaluronic acid. Ensure that your skin is well-hydrated and nourished this winter with a hyaluronic acid-based serum like ourAMETHYST Hyaluronic Acid Serum

  • Rich Moisturizer

  • In the warmer, humid months you might opt for a light, water-based moisturizer. However, in the winter months, you’re going to want to stick to something richer to help maintain your moisture barrier.

In other words, a moisturizer, like ourCREME D’OR Daily Renewal Cream that will help lock moisture in to help prevent dryness and ensure your serum gets the best shot at working.

Pro Tip: Apply your serum first and then follow up with your rich moisturizer. Doing so helps seal in the goodness from the serum for a more hydrating and glowing complexion.

    Bottom line…

Your winter skincare routine should be all about hydrating and nourishing your skin. Avoid anything that will cause dryness like peels or retinol treatments, and treat yourself to luxe sheets masks and gentle exfoliants to really ramp up the hydration.

Take this advice, and your winter skin will be nothing short of amazing.
